Lao Kemper, LMT

Born in San Diego and growing up in the Pacific Northwest in Seattle and Shoreline, WA, Lao has a long history of exploring what the body/mind can do both indoors and outdoors. From exploring the movement arts in theater and dance, to playing countless sports, Lao brings a diverse background and life experience to meeting his clients needs where they are in sports performance, injury recovery, optimization, and self-study.

His professional, clinical massage therapy training was in 2010 in Seattle at the Cortiva Institute, the curriculum emphasizing anatomical understanding (kinesiology and pathology) paired with clinical injury treatment protocols. Post graduation Lao studied with the foremost educators in continuing eduction, advancing his treatment efficacy and specializing in providing TMJD/jaw work and abdominal massage to provide a more comprehensive session.

The same year Lao graduated massage school he pivoted sports from rock climbing to training tai chi and aikido, competing at the international Can-Am in 2012, then being sponsored to train and compete in a residential program in Northeastern China in 2013 where he lived for two months, training four to six a day sessions and competing. The martial arts lends to a greater capacity to support clients growth, and informs his mechanics while providing sessions from 25 mins to 85mins.

Lao is thrilled to now offer massage as part of the REVO team and looks forward to providing the treatment our team determines is exactly what you need to take you to the next level. He views bodywork not only as mechanical support to the myofascial/neurofascial components relevant, but also as a profound education about the anatomy of our primary vehicle. He is happy to dive deep discussing any questions that come up in-session whether about involved structures, treatment approach, or self-care.

When not in session Lao is a devoted father and husband, and can be found in the climbing gym or out in the Colorado wilderness skiing, working on his tai chi long form, or having family quality time with his wife, son, and dog.

Testimonials

  • Lao is an expert masseuse. His ability to identify the area of discomfort and then work with you through an iterative process to improve mobility and mitigate the discomfort is unlike any I’ve ever experienced. If you are an active individual looking for a massage that makes a difference in your ability to perform, I highly recommend Lao.
